Work Safe Training Solutions (WSTS) was created in 2023 with a vision to build an end to end set of Health & Safety Training Solutions, focusing on the evolving and bespoke needs of the practitioners in the Construction, Pharma and related industries. This vision presented is based on an identified industry requirement to provide timely, high quality, health and safety training in a time of great change and growth.

The founding members of WSTS come with extensive experience in the Construction, Demolition and Training Consultancy industries. WSTS is therefore well positioned to offer an acute understanding of the challenges facing these industries and of the training solutions required.

To offer an end to end, business focused suite of high-quality safety training solutions, in order to equip industry professionals with the competence and legitimacy to practice safely within their respective industries.

WSTS operates from a newly constructed, state of the art facility, purpose built to cater for the technological and practical needs of our clients and students. The scale of the site offers the ability to cater for all types of training from class-room based programs, practical programs involving specific site related activities and machine operative safety training.

WSTS is located in the Shannon Free Zone, Shannon, Co. Clare V14 A372.

We provide free on-site customer parking for all our clients.

WSTS has been awarded full Solas accreditation to deliver all safety training under the Solas umbrella.

Michael J. Brennan BComm. MBA – & Co-Founder

Michael (Mike) Brennan is a highly respected, operationally focused and results driven Chief Executive, Lecturer, Executive Coach and Business Consultant with a wealth of experience in competitive commercial environments. He has successfully managed and coached others to build and lead businesses in a variety of industries and is particularly effective in fast moving, rapidly evolving operations.

Current Role:

In 2022, Mike took up a role as Strategic Adviser to the President of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), KSA. This role requires the design and delivery of strategic and operational plans, as part of the Saudi Arabian Vision 2030. It is a demanding and multifaceted position, requiring the highest levels of strategic support to the Senior Executive, which includes the President and his Senior Staff.

Mike has operated as a Coach, Strategic Advisor and Commercial Change Catalyst for a number of businesses in the Construction, Pharma, Professional Consultancy Services and Fintech space, in the US, Europe and the Middle East. He has worked with a number of HIPO Start-ups in the delivery of outsourced services to firms in the Construction, Finance and Pharma Industries.

Qualifications

Mike has qualified with a B Comm (Hons) and an MBA from University of Galway. He is an Associate Lecturer with University College Cork Business School. He is a qualified Executive Coach (ICF accredited) awarded by the Academy of Executive Coaching (UK). He is a certified Business Excellence Assessor and an Accredited Belbin Team Profile Assessor and Trainer. He is an accredited Craft Systems Personality Evaluator for Leadership and Communication. He is an accredited ECR Personality Evaluator for Emotional Intelligence and Authentic Leadership. He is also an accredited MTS Assessor and facilitator.

Derek Lynch – Managing Director & Co-Founder

Derek Lynch is a experienced construction professional with over two decades of experience in the industry. He began his career in 1999, training as a carpenter, and quickly developed a reputation for precision, leadership, and a strong work ethic. In 2002, Derek joined Brian Marrinan Construction Ltd, where he played a key role in the company’s growth, eventually becoming one of its lead foremen.

Derek’s dedication to quality and team development helped shape the company’s direction during a period of rapid expansion. In 2013/14, Derek and Brian Marrinan partnered to establish LyMar Contracts Ltd., bringing together their shared vision and experience to take on larger, more complex projects across the region.

Recognising the increasing demands around safety and compliance in the construction sector, Derek co-founded Work Safe Training Solutions (WSTS). His goal: to provide timely, high-quality health and safety training at a time of significant industry change and growth. With a strong grounding in both the trades and site management, Derek is committed to helping others build safer, smarter, and more compliant workplaces.

Brian Marrinan – Managing Director & Co-Founder

With a lifelong connection to the construction industry, Brian Marrinan brings over two decades of hands on experience and leadership to Work Safe Training Solutions. Starting his career as a qualified block layer, Brian quickly made a name for himself through hard work, reliability, and a strong commitment to quality.

In 2001, Brian founded Brian Marrinan Construction Ltd., delivering a wide range of construction projects across Clare, Galway, and Limerick. As the company flourished, he co-founded LyMar Contracts Ltd. with long-time business partner Derek Lynch, broadening their capacity to take on larger and more complex projects.

Recognising the ongoing challenges in the industry particularly in health, safety, and compliance. Brian co-founded Work Safe Training Solutions (WSTS). His deep, practical understanding of the construction sector drives his passion for providing targeted training solutions that are both relevant and effective. Under his leadership, WSTS is dedicated to improving workplace safety standards and empowering workers with the skills they need to thrive in today’s construction environment.
